WWF forest
programme coordinator in Tanzania, who is also in charge of the national
standards development, Mr Isaac Malugu, said the country standard development
group is finalising the preparations.
Mr Malugu
noted the development yesterday at the African Regional Indigenous People
Meeting that was held in Dar es Salaam, and brought together indigenous groups
from around the globe. They were, among other things, discussing how to address
issues that face indigenous communities and also push for proper harvest of
forest through certification.
“After
finishing preparing them, we will submit to Forest Stewardship Council East
Africa regional office for review and thereafter they will be taken to FSC
international office for the approval,” said Mr Malugu.
